Summary: Heterogeneous photocatalysis has been pointed out as a promising route for chemical synthesis. Compared to conventional processes, it presents massive advantages such as operation under mild temperature, exempt of using hazardous reagents and the possibility of using low energy consumption radiation sources as reaction activators. The key for the application of such processes lays in the successful combination of effective catalysts, energy-efficient light sources, and reactor engineering. This project aims at developing metal-free catalysts, for the photocatalytic synthesis of pharmaceutical and flavoring precursors.A continuous-flow photocatalytic reactor prototype for chemical organic synthesis will be developed by combining NETmix mixing and reaction technology with photocatalytic properties of catalyst films. The present project has a multidisciplinary character involving fundamental aspects of materials science and chemical organic synthesis tied to chemical engineering processes.
Results: Desenvolvimento de métodos de síntese, funcionalização e caracterização de fotocatalisadores baseados em nitreto de carbono grafítico (g-C3N4). Desenvolvimento de um fotoreator à escala laboratorial baseado na tecnologia NETmix de mistura e reação simultâneas. Estudos de Dinâmica de Fluidos Computacional aplicados ao desenvolvimento de fotoreatores.
