 AREAS OF EXPERTISE

  • NMR spectroscopy, including NMR spectrometers  operation & management, experiments design & implementation, data processing & analysis.
  • Structural chemistry (molecular structure, dynamics and interactions in a wide range of materials in chemistry and biology, including molecular aggregates and complexes, polymers and nanomaterials.
  • Qualitative/quantitative analysis of synthetic and natural products, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Design, structural & physicochemical characterisation of functionalised nanoparticles for medical applications.
  • Trace analysis of the interaction of therapeutic agents with biological membranes: a NMR-based approach.
  • NMR-based metabolomics and metabonomics of biological samples (cells, cellular extracts, bio-fluids).
  • Diffusion NMR spectroscopy.
RESEARCH INTERESTS

Application of NMR spectroscopy for structural problems solving in chemistry, biochemistry and biology; materials sciences. Current research topics:

  • Supramolecular nanoscale assemblies for cancer and microbial diagnosis, prevention and therapy.
  • Study of the Iinteraction of drugs (conventional drugs & nanomedicines) and xenobiotics with model biological membrane
  • Study of the therapeutic efficacy of drugs and nanomedicines through NMR-based metabonomics.
  • NMR metabolomics to study plants response and tolerance to abiotic stresses (Fe deficiency, pH, temperature, location)
  • Metabolomic studies of stem cells’ secretome and human blood products and their potential for cell-based therapies.
  • Structural and physicochemical characterisation of natural & synthetic biological active products.
  • Diffusion NMR spectroscopy for spectral separation and analysis of complex organic and biological samples.
