Professional Abilities
The main objective is to prepare human resources with the capacity to address, in a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary way, emerging problems in the context of aquatic biology and environment and contributing to the mitigation of the effects of ongoing climate change. In this context, students will acquire knowledge in the interfaces between these two areas, from an integrative perspective, and will be encouraged to develop critical thinking, self-confidence, social and ethical responsibility, appreciation of diversity and inclusivity in all its dimensions. The objectives also include the development of skills to tackle new problems in biology and environment, communication with peers and society, and economic and social valorisation of advances in knowledge. The cycle of studies will also guarantee the acquisition of the skills expected for the level of training in question, namely those set out in article 5 of Decree-Law 74/2006 of 24 March, in its current terms.
