The Master’s of Science in Geographic Information Systems provides high-level training in geographic information systems, geographic engineering and computation. It produces specialists in geographic information technologies who are able to interact and dialog with those in all areas of GIS applications.
The programme aims not only to educate operators of hardware and software, but also to ensure that our graduates are fully competent in the methodologies and algorithms required for the treatment of geographic information. It encourages the development of the critical sense necessary to interpret results, explaining sources of error and validating the results of this type of system.
This degree prepares students to enter into the job market and they are well trained to do so by the internship or project which makes up an important part of their programme. Thus, our graduates know how to use the expertise they have accumulated and apply the latest technologies to carry out functions in public administration, in the service sector, in companies directly involved with the installation and management of GIS or in the commercialisation and support of software brands. The degree also prepares those students interested in pursuing a scientific research career by taking a doctorate such as in geographic engineering, in the field of remote detection, or in satellite positioning and navigation.
