Courses

First Degree in Astronomy

The first cycle of studies provides a solid, inter-disciplinary preparation grounded in the mathematics, physics and computer science necessary to work in astronomy. This degree also provides the collection of knowledge, tools and basic techniques of astronomy. This is an interdisciplinary course, providing the fundamental preparation for high quality scientific research as well as the labour market; it imparts an inquiry-based approach to novel and incomplete issues. It prepares learners for continual learning as a method of astronomical investigation into questions primarily approached through technological development.
SAÍDAS PROFISSIONAIS
Scientific investigation in astronomy and related areas (physics and mathematics, for example) after completion of the master’s and doctoral programmes; dissemination and popularisation of astronomy – middle school and secondary school teaching following completion of the master’s degree in teaching – teaching at a higher educational level, after completion of master’s and doctoral degrees – industry – the service sector.
