This course provides multi- and interdisciplinary training enabling students to scientifically understand environmental processes and those of ecosystems as well as how they are affected by factors such as pollution of the air, water and soil. A third year scheme allows students to develop an autonomous project which, if feasible and innovative, may open up interesting opportunities for future jobs or self-employment. Students may also continue their studies into the second cycle in a range of areas including environmental science and technology.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Assume technical positions at the intermediate level in public or private sector jobs of in self-employment; environmental sector consulting firms and those in the service sector, local governments and governmental agencies and laboratories, industry and teaching. Examples of positions degree holders might fill include: effluent and residue management; environmental education; eco efficiency; renewable energies; installation of systems of environmental quality, hygiene and environmental and occupational safety; natural resources management, extraction and conservation; quality evaluation and control; prediction, prevention and remediation of natural disasters; description and treatment of areas of active desertification; and recuperation of open air mining sites.
