1. Deadlines - Submission and Presentation

Students enrolled in the 2024/2025 academic year in the curricular units of Dissertation, Project or Internship may apply for admission to public defence in one of the following periods:

Special exam period for completion of a cycle of studies	via SIGARRA from July 14 to August 5 (*)	via InfoCiências until 30/09/2025	until 18/12/2025

(*) Access to the Special exam period for completion of a cycle of studies requires, in addition to the conditions mentioned in the "General Regulations for the Assessment of students in first cycles, integrated master's study cycles and second cycles of the University of Porto" (Order nº 1535/ 2018 of 13/02) a prior registration via Request "Enrolment in Exams -Special Exam Period for completion of a cycle of studies". This registration requires the payment of a ¤12,00 fee, as per the University Table of Fees.

 

2. Submission of the Request for Defence

The admission to public defence request must be submitted on InfoCiências – Admission to Master’s Degree Public Defence with the following documents:

• Copy of the dissertation or internship/project report, in PDF format:
• Basic Requirements;
• Layout if written in Portuguese (FCUP Programs; Joint Programs);
• Layout if written in English (FCUP Programs; Joint Programs).

• Copy of the curriculum vitae, in PDF format;
• Sworn Statement (Article 14 of the Code of Ethical Academic Conduct of the U. Porto), in PDF format;
• Declaration from the supervisor team stating that the dissertation or internship/project report is ready for public defence, in PDF format.

Information – Tuition Fee

• At the date of submission all tuition fees must be paid in full.

3. After Defence Procedure

After public defence, the Post-graduation Services will send out a notification to the student’s institutional email address instructing for the submission, to be done at InfoCiências – Admission to Master’s Degree Public Defence, of the following documents:

• Final version of the dissertation or internship/project report, in PDF format;
• Completed Delivery Form, in PDF format.

The documents will be sent to the President of the Jury for validation, via system.


Information – Certification

Any certificate attesting the conclusion of the Master's degree will only be possible to issue after the aforementioned process is completed.

The Certificate of Mestre Degree (Master's degree) is issued by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto whilst the Master's Diploma is issued by the Rectory of the University of Porto.
