Transferable Skills - How to survive your PhD?

Objectives

  • Improve the orientation of the doctoral candidate in his/her academic path, making it more effective and efficient;
  • Promote a more efficient and fruitful PhD candiate/Supervisor relationship;
  • Empower doctoral candidates to better deal with the stressors arising from the thesis writing and research development processes, to better manage possible conflicts and solve problems more efficiently;
  • Create opportunities for individual self-reflection and group sharing on which expectations, needs and competencies doctoral candidates have, need and develop during their doctoral path;
  • Foster self-confidence in the process of transition from academia to the labor world;​

Specific Access Conditions

Candidates must be enrolled in an academic year (in a PhD programme).




Selection Criteria and Ranking of Candidates and Respective Weights

A seleção será efetuada pelo responsável da formação, de acordo com o ponto b) do artigo 4º, Cap II do GR 02.11.2020 e será feita pelos seguintes critérios de seriação:
  • Os estudantes de 3º ciclo de estudos da UPorto que pretendam creditar esta formação no percurso académico - 4 pontos
  • Os estudantes de 3º ciclos de estudo da FCUP e FEUP que pretenda realizar esta formação como complemento da formação académica - 3 pontos
  • Os restantes estudantes de 3º ciclos de estudo da UPorto que pretenda realizar esta formação como complemento da formação académica - 2 ponto
  • Estudantes de 3º ciclos de estudo fora da Universidade do Porto - 1 ponto


Tiebreaker: average of the Curricular Units carried out to date.

Cancellation of Registration
The candidate may request the cancellation of the registration through an application addressed to the Director of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, provided that:

  • Withdrawal from attendance up to 2 working days before the start of the non-degree awarding course or continuous training unit implies the payment of 50% of the tuition fee; after that date, the full amount is due.
