Application Fee/Payment Methods

According to the Table of Fees of the University of Porto, each application is subject to the payment of a fee of ¤55, non-refundable. The procedure for the payment of the application fee is available at: The amount indicated above must be paid until the last day of applications. Failure to comply with this will result in the application being rejected.

International Candidates – Acceptance Letter

International candidates, who in the finals results got placed in the cycle of studies for which they applied, may request an acceptance letter. To do so, candidates must send an email to pos.graduacao@fc.up.pt, no later than the end of the registration period of the admissions phase for which they applied.

Document Validation

The official documents related to degrees that have been obtained in a foreign institution must be authenticated by Consular Offices or Embassies of Portugal located in the country where the qualification was obtained or hold the Hague Apostile (for countries that acceded to the Hague Convention). Alternatively, you may submit digital documents issued by the Faculty/University where the degree was obtained (for example, digital Diploma), as long as their authenticity may be verifiable through an official online platform. This element is mandatory.

For degrees obtained in foreign countries, this document must be authenticated by consular offices or embassies of Portugal located in the country where the qualification was obtained or hold the Hague Apostille (for countries that acceded to the Hague Convention).   • Degree certificate/Diploma. The students of the University of Porto can submit a print screen of the Sigarra’s academic pathway. For degrees obtained in foreign countries, the certificate must be validated by the Hague Apostille (for countries that acceded to the Hague Convention) or by Consular Offices or Embassies of Portugal located in the country where the qualification was obtained.   • Curriculum vitae (Mandatory)
  • Motivation Letter - This document should be written in English, and should include your objectives and goals as well as your main areas of interest in the Program. Your letter should refer to specific research topics in which you wish to focus and should give your reasons for wishing to do graduate in the field you have chosen. Your statement of interest should be approximately 500 to 800 words in length. You must also provide the email address of two professors or researchers who can give an opinion on the candidate in case the scientific committee considers relevant (Mandatory)
  • Supervisor's declaration (and co-supervisor, if you have one), in which they accept the guidance. (Mandatory)
