Objectives

In Human Anatomy II, it is intended that the students keep on learning the general anatomic terminology and the terminology of the different parts of the human body (already initiated in Human Anatomy I) with special focus on the detailed study of the central nervous system and sense organs, of cardiovascular, respiratory, alimentary, urinary, and male and female genital systems.
It is also intended that they develop their skills of observation and autonomous study, acquire the bases of descriptive method, integrating new morphological concepts with notions of functional anatomy.

Learning outcomes and competences

Describe the structural organization and the vascularization of the Central Nervous System, cranial nerves and organs of the senses, cardiovascular, respiratory, alimentary, urinary, and male and female genital systems. Identify the divisions and the components of these systems, utilizing the anatomical terminology. Relate the structural organization of the Central Nervous System, cranial nerves and organs of the senses, of the respiratory, alimentary, urinary, and male and female genital systems to their functions, integrating the physiologic, chemical and behavioral concepts.

Total: 100,00

Amount of time allocated to each course unit

Designation Time (hours)
Estudo autónomo 79,50

Trabalho laboratorial 28,00
Total: 121,50

Eligibility for exams

In accordance with the Regulamento Pedagógico (each student has to assist 75% of laboratory classes).

Calculation formula of final grade

The knowledge acquired by the students will be evaluated through a final exam, composed of a practical test and a theoretical test.
The practical test consists of identifying 20 structures in cadaveric material of the anatomical theater. To obtain the maximum classification of 20 values, students will have to identify 20 structures. Other classifications will be calculated in proportion to the number of identified structures. The theorethical test comprises 40 multiple choice questions. In this test, to obtain the maximum classification of 20 values, students will have to correctly answer the 40 questions. All other rankings will be calculated in proportion to the number of questions correctly answered. There are no minimum marks in the practical and theoretical tests.
The final grade will result from the application of the formula (P + 3×T)/4, where P and T are the marks obtained in the practical and theoretical tests, respectively. Students will be approved with a final grade, rounded to units, equal to or greater than 10 values.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

According to nº 2 e nº 3 do Art. 8º do Estatuto do Trabalhador-Estudante da Universidade do Porto (DR, 2.ª série; N.º 107; 2 de Junho de 2011)

Classification improvement

Final exam during the recourse epoch with two tests described in the Framework Final Grade.
