Teaching methods and learning activities
The theoretical-practical classes should enable the students to build/improve a proposed of a nutritional/food policy for Portugal.
During the theoretical-practical classes of the Nutritional Policy (NP) two practical works (in group) will be conducted with the aim to critical analyse the Portuguese Action Plan for Healthy Eating Promotion (PNPAS). Besides the assiduity (according to general Faculty academic rule), the delivery and the positive evaluation of the two practical works are mandatory.
For each class five work-groups will be formed with a variable number of elements, according to the class’s size. Each work-group will have to develop your work for one of the five objectives of the PNPAS (the objective will be attributed for each work-group at the beginning of the semester). The students should developed a critical analyse and an improving work of the PNPAS, according to the objective attributed, including the following issues:
- The framework and justification of the overall objective.
- Critical discussion and improvement of specific objectives.
- Critical discussion and improvement of the strategies / actions to achieve the overall and the specific objectives.
- Define and justify indicators that are able to monitor / evaluate strategies / actions proposed.
The first work-group includes an oral presentation and a written work. The classification obtained in this work-group will account for 40% of the final assessment of the course unit.
The second work-group consists of the discussion and compilation of different works developed for the same subject (one of the five objectives of PNPAS), which requires the combination of the four works carried out by different groups. This work-group will be evaluated by a oral presentation. The classification obtained will account for 20% of the final assessment of the course unit.
