Abstract (EN):
This paper describes a SAS (Synthetic Aperture Sonar) system that is being developed at the University
of Porto. This system is operated from an autonomous small boat and enables mapping of submerged
bottoms of rivers, deltas, estuaries, dams and lakes. The focus of this paper is on the design features,
principles of operation, the hardware and the target applications and on the project status.
