Os encontros científicos IJUP são eventos de periodicidade anual, que ocorrem no início do segundo semestre, onde os estudantes da U.Porto têm a oportunidade para apresentar e discutir os resultados dos estudos em que participaram no âmbito de projectos de iniciação à investigação. O programa de iniciação à investigação pretende incentivar o envolvimento dos estudantes da U.Porto em actividades de I&D, o mais precocemente possível no seu percurso de formação universitária. Os objectivos do programa IJUP são: ¿ Facilitar o contacto dos estudantes com as metodologias de criação de conhecimento e a sua compreensão das dinâmicas específicas desse processo, enriquecendo a formação dos estudantes e promovendo novos modelos de ensino/aprendizagem; - Estimular a aproximação de potenciais futuros investigadores e os grupos de I&D da U.Porto, favorecendo o despertar de vocações para a investigação científica; - Fomentar a discussão pública dos resultados dos trabalhos desenvolvidos, apoiando a participação dos estudantes da U. Porto em encontros científicos interdisciplinares, na U. Porto e em universidades parceiras; - Estimular a abertura dos grupos de I&D da U.Porto, pela incorporação de estudantes de áreas de saber complementares, pelo desenvolvimento de projectos pluridisciplinares, pelas ligações criadas que favorecerão contactos futuros entre os grupos de I&D e os participantes no programa ou as suas entidades empregadoras. - Dar mais visibilidade interna e externa às competências dos diversos grupos de I&D da U.Porto.
