Notice and applicable information




Applications for the Special International Student Competition*, academic year 2025/2026 - 1st Cycle (Degree) in Nutritional Sciences - are due by the deadlines and in accordance with the conditions set out in the  Notice (uptaded by 5th May 2025 due to Decrew-Law 20/2025)

**:::AMENDMENT:::
Entry into force of Decree-Law 20/2025 of 18 March, with effect from 19.03.2025, whereby those listed in article 3 of this Decree-Law are now considered international students. Applicants who are not considered international, according to the aforementioned legislation, cannot apply through this scheme.

Previous: International students are those indicated in article 3 of Decree-Law no. 62/2018, of August 6, and in article 1 of Regulation no. 664/2018, of October 16 - Regulation for the application of the international student status of the University of Porto. Applicants who are not considered international, according to the aforementioned legislation, cannot apply through this scheme.

1. VACANCIES

1.1 Total: 18 vacancies

1.2 Distribution of vacancies among the application phases:

1st phase: 10 vacancies;

2nd phase: 6 vacancies + any vacancies left over from the 1st stage;

3rd phase: Total= 16 (2 vacancies + 14 remaining vacancies).


2. CALENDAR - APPLICABLE DEADLINES



3. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

- Identification document (Citizen's Card/Identity Card/Passport) or declaration containing the identification data (compulsory);

- Document(s) proving the specific tests (national exams, ENEM) issued by the official education services of the respective country* (required);

- Diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority attesting to having passed a secondary education program* (required);

- Declaration issued by the official education services of the country of origin attesting that the secondary qualification they hold, obtained in that country, is sufficient for them to enter official higher education in courses similar to those they intend to apply for*. Alternatively, a certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education issued by a competent national authority (compulsory);

- Document proving knowledge of the language in which the cycle of studies is taught - Portuguese (document issued by a competent body or sworn statement by the candidate) (compulsory);

Sworn statement International student  (mandatory);

- Motivation letter (required);

- Letter(s) of recommendation (Optional).

* Documents, including digital ones (with the exception of ENEM results), must be authenticated by the consular services or embassies of Portugal based in the country to which the qualification relates or, for countries that have signed up to the Hague Convention, with the Hague Apostille of the country to which the qualification relates. The same must apply to mandatory translations of documents whose original language is not Portuguese, Spanish, French or English.
If the authentication with the Hague Apostille is made on a certified copy of the original document, this process must ensure that the signature(s) on the original document are recognized, so that the capacity of the signatory(s) of the document can be verified and guaranteed.

6. APPLICABLE LEGISLLATION

Decree-Law no. 36/2014 of March 10 - Regulates the international student statute referred to in article 16(7) of Law no. 37/2003 of August 22, which lays down the foundations for financing higher education, in its current wording.

Decree-Law no. 227/2005, of December 28 - Defines the new system for granting the equivalence of foreign basic and secondary education qualifications, partially repealing Decree-Law no. 219/97, of August 20.

Decree-Law no. 296-A/98, of September 25 - Regulates the system of access and admission to higher education, which in its wording was updated by Decree-Law no. 90/2008, of May 30, which amends and republishes Decree-Law no. 296-A/98, of September 25, which establishes the system of access and admission to higher education.
Decision no. 530/2023 of May 22 - Application to Portuguese higher education by students with foreign secondary education qualifications.
