Apresentação Pessoal

Duarte Paulo Martins Torres holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Minho (2010). In 2005, he completed a Master’s degree in Biotechnology – Bioprocess Engineering at the same university, and in 2000, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP).
Since 2010, he has been an Assistant Professor at FCNAUP, where he teaches the curricular units of Food Toxicology and Risk Assessment, Food and Meal Composition, and Innovation.
He is also a researcher at ISPUP – Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, where he has coordinated and participated in several research projects funded by national and international entities. He is the author of more than 80 papers published in international scientific journals.
Through his work, he aims to contribute to the collaborative development of solutions addressing the most pressing needs of a sustainable agri-food system, with a focus on key areas such as logistics, production, processing, and preparation of safe, nutritious foods that meet consumer needs and expectations. Between 2017 and 2021, he was co-founder of SnoodFoods, a company specializing in the production of healthy legume-based snacks.
