Mission: | Integrada no edifício central, a Biblioteca da Faculdade de Belas-Artes da U. Porto está associada à evolução histórica da Escola, tendo a sua origem nas bibliotecas das escolas que a antecederam, designadamente: a Aula de Debuxo e Desenho (1779), a Academia Real da Marinha e Comércio (1803), a Academia Portuense de Bellas Artes (1836) e finalmente a Escola Superior de Belas Artes nossa antecessora imediata. |
Description: | As a specialized information system focused on arts, the Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Oporto first aim is to provide all sort of information, documental or electronic to users. The Library is responsible for buying, cataloguing, classifying and indexing books, and all sort of documents useful to the Institution activities. Therefore, the Library's purpose and scope is to preserve, divulge and put all documental resources available to the users. Subject organizes general documents. In 1995 and after being renewed, general documents are on open shelves. The Faculty of Fine Arts has quite valuable documents consisting of about 3.500 prints, made by the most well known engravers of that time and that goes from the XVI to XIX century, and a collection of books (about 780 titles) of which we put on evidence some of the first architecture's treaties. These documents also include a significant collection of periodical publications, most of the end of the XVIII century and beginning of the XIX. |
