Objectives

The aim of Práticas da Fotografia is to conceive and produce an individual and original photographic project, along with the consolidation of previously acquired technical knowledge.

Autonomous and critical thinking is favoured in the technical and conceptual development of the project, capable of recognising the specificity of the photographic medium and experiencing it in relation to other media.

It is also intended to foster knowledge in contemporary photographic publication and exhibition practices.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Develop the proposed theme conceptually exploring the specificity of the photographic medium;
- Choosing and adapting project methodologies and respective scheduling of the different stages of production.
- Application of visual grammar in the development and design of the project.
- Rehearsal of different presentation formats and layout of the photographic image: exhibition, publication in paper and online.

Comments from the literature

The listed bibliography corresponds exclusively to a selection of works available at the FBA.UP library. Complementary bibliography will be delivered and discussed within the classes.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Different models of photographic development and production are approached that aim and frame photography in an authorial, historical, theoretical and practical perspective.

The expository classes allow to know and debate the conceptualization, methodologies and the respective individual path in the work of contemporary photographers.

The photographic projects are presented at the end of the semester in an expository and editorial format, to rehearse and give a public dimension to the proposal.

The entire work process is recorded, organized and published on an online platform.
