Objectives

The course aims to weave crosses between the operability fields of art and design, communication and visual culture, anchored in the study of contemporary critical thought from the end of the century. XX and taking into account the mutual contamination between those fields. Supported the idea that there is no territory of visuality out of the cultural and political, the course is intended as an instigator of an interdisciplinary research in understanding the contemporary culture of multifaceted and dynamic way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Learning outcomes and competences

To develop expertise in the field of theoretical reflection on contemporary art. Promote thinking on the issues of communication in art. To produce connections between creative perspective and knowledge of perceptual processes and communication in contemporary art and design. Development of critical and analytical tools of seminal texts in the field of visual culture and cultural studies.

Through a set of modules it is intended to question the notion of public space, questioning it from the historical point of view, economic, social, aesthetic, communication.
- How the emergence ofpublic space and opinion was linked to social, linguistic and perceptive restructuring that resulted from the transition from oral to literate societies societies, speeding up this process with the invention of the press and audiovisual media.
- Through the parallel history of economics and copyright legislation is part of the public sphere character change with the advent of capitalism, which would make it a way of defending interests and private property. We wanted to understand how these concerns affect the intellectual expression.
- By historical critique several attempts to reach and impose a universal language, seeks to understand the narrative and political uses of translation, especially when uses a graphic speech.
- Seeks to understand the use space as a metaphor and narrative structure, as well as new geographies and theories of space (Henri Lefebvre, Michel de Certeau, Edward Soja)
- Addresses the basic issues of so-called Cultural Studies and Visual Culture as well as the question of representation and the Post-feminism to contemporary cultural discourse.
