. To encourage the crossings with work developed within other curricular areas or even in other contexts;
. To stimulate critical reflection on contemporary artistic practice;
. To place and solve practical problems of production and management of the work;
. To articulate and use the technological and studio skills acquired throughout the course, according to each individual work project;
. To test exhibition models and the public presentation of the work done, both in university spaces and elsewhere;

Program

Project is - as its designation makes clear - a curricular unit for the development of the individual projects of the undergraduate students. It is therefore a space for the preparation, implementation and discussion of these projects.
In essence, this Unit is a space of thought and practice focused on individual projects and so this program and its contents are in a way guided by the work proposals presented by the students themselves.
The central place of this Unit also makes it the gravitational focus of the experiences that students can take in other curricular units, some with a technological nature, others with a projectual one or even essentially theoretical. The students will thus be advised to bring into the studio the experiences taken from other Units or even from other contexts not strictly academic, with the aim of reinforcing the authorial identity of each student and its artistic project.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Although this course opens to the broad scope of Plastic/Visual Arts, the degree secures three branches of specialization, which involve practices, methodologies and understandings that are differentiated. In this sense the students are divided into three classes with different professors, at least one for each branch.
The development of an individual project is carried out in studio context, under the coordination of the professor(s), accompanied both by pratical and theoretical researches, inside and outside the studio.
Throughout the year, students are motivated to present critical reflections on the development of their work, individually and in groups. At the end of the academic year, takes place an exhibition with work from the students of the three branches of the degree in Plastic Arts.
In all branches it is foreseen the possibility of a tutorial regime, with the obligatory agreement of the professor in charge. The tutorial regime also obliges the attendance of the subject and the final evaluation remains the sole responsibility of the professor, after hearing the tutor. The tutor has the function of complementarily accompanying the student's work throughout the year. The tutors will preferably be from FBAUP's or UP's faculty. Exceptionally external tutors may be proposed.
Throughout the academic year and whenever it is appropriate, on the initiative of students and/or professors, alternative spaces can be found for the installation of the student's projects, individually or in groups.
For each of the classes, given the specificity of each branch and the framework given by the respective professor(s), a specific work plan and schedule will be established, but taking always into account the following:
a) The initial presentation of a work proposal;
b) The conduction of the studio work throughout the year;
c) Individual and / or group exhibition practice (conception, organization, production);
d) Production of documentation on the work done;
e) Presentations (periodic discussions)
