Objectives
To problematize the relations between verbal and nonverbal, between text and image, highlighting has working material the writings and the speech of the artists.
To develop tools of analysis and interpretation of the writings of artists, especially of contemporary artists.
For the students with artistic practice, it will also be the place to experiment and rehearse their own written production in parallel/intersection with their studio work, anticipating the completion of the final master's project.
Learning outcomes and competences
Accordingly to the presented objectives and methodologies, students are expected to be able to develop tools for analyzing and interpreting the writings of artists, especially contemporary ones, in their different typologies. In most cases, the skills developed will be crossed with the practical work developed in their own studio work, and can serve as a laboratory to test the development of their final master's dissertation/project.

Comments from the literature
The bibliography will be given throughout the semester, in part depending on the choices made by the students. Only a generic list of titles is indicated here. For a complete bibliography of the texts used in class should be accessed the Unit's blog.

Teaching methods and learning activities
After a brief introduction, in each session texts and other materials will be shared, analyzed and discussesd, some of them chosen by the students themselves. The choice of these materials will not follow any program, except for the fact that they must result directly from the speech of the artists. There will be no limitation on the typology or formats; indeed, the principle to follow will be precisely the refusal of any typology or cataloging of those "texts", thus questioning the very notions of text or speech.
