Objectives

The objectives of this UC, Technological Studies in Sculpture, correspond to procedural environments where the materials will be conformed by specific techniques. The students participate in practical practical approaches consolidated in the sculptural vocation of the FBAUP, as a process of questioning their individual practices and creative processes anchored in the know-how. Thematic nuclei and participation in research workshops on modeling, molding, casting, foundry and in materials such as stone, wood, metals, waxes, plaster and mud are promoted. The student deepens knowledge about techniques and processes related to these territories of Sculpture; settles operating skills in collective; extends methodological skills as a researcher in sculpture; exercise improvisation, as an exercise of freedom, unique feature of the artistic field.

Learning outcomes and competences

Since the areas of activity of this UC, consolidate the formation profile of FBAUP, specific situations are designed by authors or institutions in partnership with the teacher, which at times are developed through thematic workshops (in the form, in the medium, tool or matter), crossing and perspetivando contemporary production possibilities with workshop settled practice. These particular ways of being in the workshop, of structuring the production, processing of the subjects, which are actively shared with the students, intends to create learning results within a space of reflection and academic debate, developing competences of awareness of individual evolution, From the confrontation with its practical and technological practice.
It is intended to create competencies in the characterization of each procedural environment, in the general presentation capacity of author or institution in work approach, to develop capacities of specific framework of the workshop practice framed in the development of the several oriented workshops;
Build skills within specific frameworks of continuing research;
To promote the necessary and fundamental competences for the production of reports of technological scope with systematized research where it will be important to cross the project of Research of the student and the development of the UC.

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

The prerequisites of this UC, Technological Studies in Sculpture, are in line with those that are defined in the regulation of the 2 nd Cilo de Estudos; MAP.

Program

The program defines a continuous monitoring by the teacher in the development of research actions in technological environments.
This program is defined as supporting practical development, within the context of academic research of students and in cross-cutting with contemporary practices and authors, in individualized or group actions. The diligent participation of the student and involvement in the actions is paramount for the success of the teaching methodology guaranteeing the enrichment of the collective experience.
The student should develop a written work of reflection across his research project with the development of the UC, focusing on one or the cross-information of several workshops and the implications of these in their research.
For the evaluation will be valued thematic classes of character and technological tools in the workshops and participation in workshops and written reports.

Teaching methods and learning activities

UC bases the methodology of teaching in the personalized accompaniment of the student, placed before the field of production, before the effective possibility of conquering specific competences to express. ">It also calls for stable foundations for meeting individuals and sharing knowledge.
The working model will be divided between sessions with the teacher and others shared with guests through workshops allows collective dynamics with participants, exchange and sharing of experiences. The proposition of these workshops through the specific practice of an author or institution allows guarantee possibilities of results and facilitated learning of the procedural specificities of each procedural environment. The UC creates space for sharing knowledge and obvious encounter between individuals, place of tests, verifications, provocations, speeches, expositions, investigations of the concepts that dynamize the individual research projects of each student and the sculptural territories that are reflected and questioned.
