Objectives

This Unit aims to address the multiple disciplinary field that characterizes the area of operation of the Master's Degree in Art and Design for the Public Space, establishing itself as a laboratory-based research space in which individual research assumptions are tested. The UC intends to ensure the development of a studio culture indispensable to the management and implementation of the projectual practice, at the same time as it articulates with the component of recension to the artistic and spatial knowledge and with the written component of the investigation.

Learning outcomes and competences

Development of content relating to the ongoing investigation; Critical analysis of theoretical references and practical (analysis of case studies); Monitoring and discussion of project(s) in progress and their articulation with the theoretical component; Planning and feasibility of the different stages of the investigation in accordance with the planned schedule and their anticipated results; Review standards and ground rules for the production of scientific/scholarly work; Preparation of 2º Dissertation Draft (refers to a status of the dissertation at the last day of the first semester and includes all advances and content produced by the student to the ongoing investigation).

Program

The program of this unit contains several stages of work that will lead to the creation of the 2º Dissertation Draft. Based on defined program, it is intended to continue the "Project Methodologies and Research I" program through several follow-ups of ongoing research work. On the one hand, these follow-up actions are intended to reflect and discuss the status of the dissertation as well as to ensure compliance with the objectives and timetable set by the student Moreover, these actions also intend to follow the development and implementation of ongoing projects (from the practices of sculpture and art and design for the public space), assess their feasibility and reflect on their results and their articulation with the theoretical component. The results of these follow-up actions will directly contribute to the thesis of the content to include in 2nd Dissertation Draft / Project work.
