Objectives

Recent developments of contemporary thought value the importance of space in understanding the processes of knowledge whether the Bar of critical geography, social theory, the aesthetic thought, architecture or art. In this perspective, and the space being a meaning category as comprehensive in terms of the increasing specialization of the contemporary life, as in leads that this phenomenon has had on the thinking and art, comes this course focused on research of importance of theories contemporary space and its connections with art.
Critical thinking developed mainly from the second half of the twentieth century around the artistic practices that were facing the spatiality in their modes of production and exhibition, forms the starting point of the course, in order to deepen the notions so often cited in contemporary artistic practice of site-specific or contextual art. The unit can link up with projects of this nature developed in other courses Lectures and practical, and in particular Atelier project, in any of the Fine Arts Course Pathways.

Presentation classes and discussion of the themes presented.

Calculation formula of final grade

The calculation of the final mark is made considering one text of critical analysis on the developed matters, lecture notes, a thematic presentation and participation in class during the semester (in percentages of 30%, 20%, 20% and 30% respectively).

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

Test with access to reference readings. The student can opt for continuous evaluation by submitting the requested elements and for attending the Test, with the highest classification being valid for the purposes of the final score.
