Teaching methods and learning activities

Students are to address and recognize the importance of the referent and of the program, of the rhetorical discourse (informative and poetic), of the author, as well as of style and design in illustration.  They should be able to provide practical and conceptual responses to different proposals within the field of illustration. The understanding of all proposed contents also meets the acquisition of a culture of illustration, enabling students to master a specialized, comprehensive, rich, thoughtful, critical and argumentative discourse. Furthermore it reinforces the students’ autonomy for shaping their own path.

Calculation formula of final grade

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation):

Teaching methodology is based on three essential approaches: pratical classes, where the students’ work is critically guided in class; presentations by the teacher including useful information and explanation of projects, themes and contents; extended debate on the proposed themes and contents. School trips and visits to exhibitions and museums should be proposed.

The evaluation is the sum of the various stages of the process within each of the different proposed projects. Assessment is continuous and requires actual attendance. Assessment will not take in consideration projects hat were not discussed in class along the semester.

The final grade is calculated from the weighted average of projects’ assessments (80%), as well as articulation with a qualitative assessment of the students’ attendance and participation in the classroom and in class-related activities (20%).
