Objectives

The subject aims the learning to use digital tools in 3D creation, representation and production of maquettes in the process of artistic creation.

Creation: Using 3D tools in modeling and designing of three-dimensional objects. Become familiar with various concepts of geometry.

Representation: Perspective projection of 3D objects in real space or in an virtual environment / landscape.

Maquette: Producinga modelfrom avirtual geometry.

Learning outcomes and competences

In the centre of the program is not the learning of 3D software but before the trial of this technology in a specific situation developed by the students. The experience should create a basic knowledge in the application of this technology and create the ability to deepen self-taught in any 3D software.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Besides having some experience in plastic modelling students must have basic knowledge in image editing (bitmaps) and vector drawing.

Program

1.Establishment ofworking groups

2. Photographic survey and mapping of a public place for an artistic intervention

3. Develop a plastic idea (three dimensional) to the chosen location

4. Modelling a three dimensional object

5. Perspective placing of the virtual model in the real space (tech cam points)

6. Study visit to the studio of model maker Manuel Gaspar

In parallel: Introduction of the concept of 3D programs with the example of 3D Studio Max:

1. Presentation of the interface and primary tools

2. Modelling concepts in the virtual space

3. Application of structures and materials

4. Using lights and cameras

5. Rendering technology

6. Creating perspectives of the virtual geometry in real space (tech cam points)

7. Introduction to the world of animation
