Exposição: Polish Roads

A exposição "Polish Roads" de Jacek Szewczyk, inserida no âmbito do programa Pure Print Elements estará patente na Galeria dos Leões da Universidade do Porto até 14 de novembro de 2015, com inauguração no dia 29 de outubro de 2015 pelas 18 horas. - Sempre me interessei por circunstâncias mais ou menos previsíveis que acontecem nas nossas vidas. Tenho-me interessado mais pelas conversas ouvidas ao acaso no autocarro, pelo que vejo da minha janela ou pelos transeuntes na minha rua do que pelos grandes acontecimentos mediáticos. Desenhando esses pequenos acontecimentos tento, não de forma objetiva e com uma certa distância emocional, transformá-los em comentários de autor. De uma forma tão simples, eventos fortuitos assumem frequentemente as proporções de obras de arte. Gostaria que esses desenhos permanecessem um sinal dos tempos, não só para os futuros arqueólogos, mas também para o punhado de aqueles que valorizam o carácter 'ultrapassado' do papel e do negro da caneta de tinta. Statement I have always been interested in the more or less probable situations which have occurred in our lives. I have been much more interested in conversations overheard on the bus, views from my window, or passers by in my street than in great events related by the media. Drawing these little events, I attempt, non-objectively and with a certain emotional distance, to make them the author s commentaries. In such a simple way, chance events frequently assume the proportions of works of art. I would like these drawings to remain a sign of the times not for future archaeologists, but also for the handful of those who value the " old - fashionness" of paper and the blackness of fountain pen ink. Jacek Szewczyk // Jacek Szewczyk (1958-) Studied graphic design and printmaking at The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wrocław. MFA in 1982 with honour within the area of graphic design and printmaking. From 2003 to 2009, as a full professor, he has been running the Printmaking Studio at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wroclaw. Since 2009 till now the Creative Drawing Studio. In 2005 he has been chosen the Rector of The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wrocław for the term of 2005/2008. In 2008 he has been chosen the Rector again for second term of 2008/2012. In 2012 he has been chosen the Dean of Graphic and Media Art Faculty. Apart from regular work at the Academy, he deal with graphics, drawings and graphic design. He has taken part in numerous exhibitions, graphic and drawings competitions in Poland and abroad. He has been often awarded with prizes and honours.
