Additional information:
Pedro Amado holds a Ph.D. in online Type Design from the University of Aveiro (2014), an MFA in Co-Design (2007), and a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (2002).
He is currently an Assistant Professor of Web Design (dynamic applications with Javascript), Project 1 (Calligraphy, Pictography, Typography, Editorial & Poster design with Prof. Rui Santos), Typography and Typeface Design (Type and Editorial design with InDesign, Typeface design and Font Production with Glyphs, & Fontlab), Research Methodologies II (together with Prof. António Modesto, and Prof. Cristina Ferreira) at FBAUP.
He has taught Creative Coding (Processing & p5.js), Interaction and Prototyping (UCD, Figma, Invision & XD), Specialized Graphics (Blender 3D graphics and animations, with Prof. Pedro Cardoso), Introduction to Digital Tools (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign), e Multimedia Project (Web design and i-Docs, with Prof. Cristina Ferreira).
Integrated member of the direction of the i2ADS research institute (responsible for the design and communication), editor of the HUB Journal, and an ID+ collaborator (member of LUME and NIT groups), director of the Master in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects (MDGPE), a founding member of the ATIPO typography association and country delegate for the ATypI international association. Passionate for digital tinkering, amateur letterpress printer, and digital photographer, he focuses his research and development activities on computational and post-digital typography and editorial design, as well as human-computer interaction.
