António Modesto Nunes is Associate Professor in Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP). He studied art and design at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto, where he graduated in fine arts in 1983 and where he has been an assistant since that same year. Professor, researcher (integrated member of ID+), designer and draftsman, he is the author and co-author of multiple artefacts and publications in the areas of graphic and editorial design, illustration, visual identity (co-author of the Expo 98 mascot), packaging, equipment and interior design, with which he obtained several prizes and distinctions. Jointed researcher in the project "For a Design Observatory in Portugal: Models, Instruments, Representations and Strategies" (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-032445). Co-author of the most adopted schoolbook in Portugal for Visual Education in the 3rd cycle of basic education. Member of national juries in design and illustration (doctoral grants – FCT; higher design courses – DGES; competitions and awards). He was art director of his own design studio until 2012.
