Course Description
The undergraduate course in Journalism and Communication Sciences was the result of joint venture signed between the Faculties of Arts, Engineering, Fine Arts and Economics. It combines knowledge in the Social and Human Sciences, providing training related to new information and communication technologies, and to aesthetics and graphics.
The first two years provide the core to all students. In the third year, students may opt for one of the following areas of specialisation: Journalism; Public Relations; Multimedia. The course?s main aim is to provide students with a wide range of opportunities in terms of entry into the labour market, from the several types of journalism (written, radio, television and on-line) to press and image offices, as well as the production of educational software or multimedia materials.
The course has a strong training component, with access to studios, multimedia laboratories and other computer resources. Students are encouraged to work on projects, and to participate in productions for the University itself and other entities.
