The Degree in Fine Arts aims at training comprehensive professionals through a solid theoretical and practical background in the artistic creation, research and visual arts. Students can develop transversal skills and deepen knowledge in an area of specialisation.
After a common first year, the degree is structured along three optional specialisations:
Main Areas of Study
The study plan includes a wide range of optional elective courses that allow each student to adjust his training path, according to his interests. International mobility programs provide additional opportunities for training and personal fulfillment.
Today, Fine Arts practice demands a comprehensive scientific, technical and artistic knowledge, crossing theoretical and practical learnings. The degree in Fine Arts results from the current need to develop creative, analytical and critical skills, in order to prepare students for present and future challenges through grounded knowledge and critical thinking.
The graduate in Fine Arts is prepared to intervene in the following areas:
artistic production: as painters, sculptors, “spatial”, visual and multimedia artists, with greater or smaller specialisation in each of these subjects,
art and editorial market,
theatre, television and similar areas,
technology training and art teaching,
management, directing and coordination in teams,
artistic or technological studies,
development of art projects for public spaces,
working with public or private cultural organizations.
After completion of the 2nd semester – or having garnered 40 credits – the student should choose one of these specialisations. A degree in each one of these options requires a minimum amount of credits amassed through corresponding subject matters listed in the study plan. Each student can only attain a degree in one of these specialisations. The students will choose a specific study plan after a period of shared basic training with every other student, allowing them to make a sound choice fully customizable to the flexible nature of their study plan.
