Objectives

  • Contribute to a progressive autonomy of the student's work through the development of an investigative attitude in the elaboration of projects that express a personal universe.
    • Discuss and support the resolution of plastic, conceptual and technological problems inherent to the student’s projects.
    • To problematize processes and modes of handling artistic experimentation in its relation to studio practice.
    • Value tangential and complementary knowledge resulting from research developed within other curricular areas or contextual contexts.
    • Encourage a critical relationship with current artistic thinking and practice in its disciplinary diversity.
    • To develop the capacity to articulate a discussion about one’s personal projects, as well as to promote instruments of analysis and critical reflection of the work itself and of the work of the student’s peers.
    • To value the permanent investment in self-discovery and foster a practice of constant search for the meaning of individual and collective artistic practice.

Learning outcomes and competences

By the end of Atelier II students should be able to generate and develop with autonomy and responsibility a project based on personal concerns from inception to completion, demonstrating technical accomplishment, conceptual reflection and methodological organization.

Program

Atelier Multimédia II is a curricular unit that offers a multidisciplinary space for the experimentation and debate of individual and collective projects.

In essence it traces a path of exploration that promotes the disciplinary crossing, the combination of different media and a procedural attitude that has as objective the construction of the subject as person and author, departing from two distinct but complementary moments and that obey a logic of progressive growth:

1st: one that is understood during the first semester and which is characterized by a set of short-term propositions-exercises that ask the student to exploratory a vast set of plastic, conceptual and methodological problems.

2nd: that corresponds to the second semester and which is characterized by a period where the students, following their previous work, gathers a repertoire of personal interests and concerns for the construction of a personal path translated into projects conceived and developed in a progressive autonomy.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The role of the teacher focuses on building together with the student directions and finding paths along the creation process.
In addition to an individualized monitoring and support for the development of the proposed projects, classes are held that stimulate discussions and dialogues in the group.

There will be periodic presentations of work proposals using theoretical sessions, as well as, if necessary, practical classes in a workshop oriented format with specialized technical support.

There is a possibility to test a residency format that aims to transfer the work place from the studio to other spaces in order to formulate issues realted to the exhibition and distribution of artistic practice.

Calculation formula of final grade

In addition to the quality of the project developed by each student throughout the year, in its different stages, the following factors will be evaluated, without prejudice to the other aspects contemplated in the program:

  1. a) Assiduity;
  2. b) Participation in the discussions and other teaching activities;
  3. c) Exploratory capacity and conceptual, technical and methodological autonomy at work;
  4. d) Compliance with the deadlines established in the class schedule.

Compliance with the work proposals for the first semester will be assessed qualitatively and then converted into an average percentage for the final evaluation. The intermediate qualitative evaluation is not binding, it does not immediately guarantee 50% of the grade.
