. Leitmotif: “Design and Human Ecology - Topics for a project culture”;
. The classes will have an expository approach on key issues of design as an area of professional activity intrinsically related to the Project. The intervention of the designer considering the logic of the environment / human context and its environmental implications;
. Partners: Lipor.
. Each of the structural issues will be decomposed into some of its sub-themes, in blocks of nine to ten classes, foreseeing each week a teacher's lecture supplemented by the intervention of a guest in the industry and / or environmental research area, whose activity takes design as an added value in the final product, analyzing the role and implications of the designer’s decisions;
Themes
#1. Social responsibility
#2. Innovation;
#3. Sustainability.
Key sub-themes
# 1. Climate changes (data and medium term prospects);
# 2. Environmental law (context and orientation);
# 3. Energy (production and distribution costs; ecological footprint, R & D projects);
# 4. Water (medium-term prospects, treatment processes, R & D projects);
# 5. Waste (treatment, problems / difficulties; impacts; R & D projects);
# 6. Materials (impact, alternatives and efficiency; R & D projects);
# 7. Recycling (processes, difficulties and optimization; R & D projects);
# 8. Sustainable construction (new and dynamic solutions, R & D projects);
# 9. Case studies (good practices, examples and reasons, R & D projects);
# 10, # 11, # 12, # 13 Presentation and discussion of theoretical report and practical projects about the creation or reformulation of sustainable products for evaluation and publication in annual editions.
. The classes will have an expository approach on key issues of design as an area of professional activity intrinsically related to the Project. The intervention of the designer considering the logic of the environment / human context and its environmental implications;
. Students should work in groups (up to four elements) on one of the key themes and sub themes of the discipline, in order to fundament the project approach, having as a final result a theoretical report and a prototype able to foresee the reformulation or the creation of a product. Both components (theoretical and practical) will be publicly presented.

. As a discipline primarily expository, the evaluation of the student follows the report delivered (50%) and the relevance of the prototype (50%), assuming the public presentation as a compulsory and essential element in the understanding and validation of theoretical and practical component;
. Specific parameters (quality of the report and additional prototype). Evaluation grid to be presented in the class presentation and published in the Moodle’s course;
. Mandatory attendance at 75% of classes: 10 sessions;
. The approval of this course is conditional on obtaining 40% (8 values) to any of the components of the evaluation.
. Report (50%) & prototype supplement (50%);
. This course, given its strong expository, is not subject to assessment in a single moment, so it can not be replaced by examination of written appeal.
. The non-participation in the cases referred in 75% of classes may require oral discussion of the evaluation elements presented, and the realization of a written test on the subjects of the course.
. As provided in FBAUP Regulation Assessment.
. Conducting theoretical and practical work.
. All the work must be presented to the Professor, otherwise you will not be considered in the classification process.
