Objectives

This Curricular Unit intends to continue the program "Project Methodologies and Research I" ensuring support for the writing component and the project-component (ongoing projects or to develop). The aim is to reflect on and discuss the situation points of the dissertation, developing the following skills: To consolidate the research work and its field of action; Discuss and refine the methodologies used, the current state of research (status points) and its future stages; Monitor and discuss the literature used as well as share different sources and techniques for collecting and analyzing information; Follow the articulation of theoretical component with the project, including monitoring the development and implementation of ongoing projects; Continue to promote critical thinking from discussions and group presentations.

Learning outcomes and competences

The described methods should aim to not only consolidate ongoing research skills, but also continue to encourage and strengthen the communication routines of results: oral, written and project-oriented. In this way, and continuing the UC "Project Methodologies and Research I", it encourages up a regular communication process in these specific points using class exercises and written work that compromise the student in the development and improvement of content your Dissertation / Project work. These exercises also intend to continue to promote critical thinking from the discussion of its results and regular collective presentations. On the other hand, through lectures with presentations (with teachers and invited guests) related to other previous research, students will maintain the contact with relevant research processes for ongoing research topics. The aim of these classes is to promote not only direct contact with other researches and its researchers, but also the collective discussion face to processes, advances and changes in own direction of a research work.

The program of this unit contains several stages of work that will lead to the creation of the 2º Dissertation Draft: Development of content relating to the ongoing investigation; Critical analysis of theoretical references and practical (analysis of case studies); Monitoring and discussion of project(s) in progress and their articulation with the theoretical component; Planning and feasibility of the different stages of the investigation in accordance with the planned schedule and their anticipated results; Review standards and ground rules for the production of scientific/scholarly work; Preparation of 2º Dissertation Draft (refers to a status of the dissertation at the last day of the first semester and includes all advances and content produced by the student to the ongoing investigation).

Teaching methods and learning activities

In order to follow up the objectives set for UC, the theoretical and practical classes are prepared taking into account the following points: Lectures exposure, discussion and analysis of the already written content; Classes with presentations (with teachers and invited guests) relating to other investigations already carried out, that are, in some way, relevant to the students' research topics; work monitoring and individual and collective criticism of ongoing projects; Preparation, presentation and discussion of written work that will support and integrate the preparation of final work (2º Dissertation Draft / Project Work).

Calculation formula of final grade

The assessment is continuous and results of full compliance with the work plan with the following parameters: Attendance: oral communication (discussions and presentations in class context and 2 public presentations) - 40%; 2ºDraft Dissertation/Project Work - 60%.
