Resumo (PT): A presente Dissertação desenvolve-se a partir do estudo da Casa de Azurém, projetada pelo Arquiteto Noé Diniz entre 1967 e 1968, em Guimarães, com o objetivo de definir uma metodologia de projeto de restauro para a mesma. A investigação parte da análise aprofundada da obra, desde a sua encomenda até ao seu estado atual, inserindo-a no contexto histórico, arquitetónico e cultural da segunda metade do século XX. A Casa é observada enquanto manifestação da arquitetura doméstica moderna portuguesa, revelando o equilíbrio entre racionalidade construtiva, sensibilidade ao lugar e adequação funcional. Tornou-se irresistível e inevitável o estudo, listagem e análise da obra do Arquiteto Noé Diniz. Embora se preferisse analisar de forma completa a obra do autor, restringiu-se a análise aos seus primeiros anos de profissão, que correspondem ao momento em que a Casa de Azurém se projeta e constrói. O contacto próximo e assíduo com o Arquiteto Noé Diniz ao longo da investigação permitiu enriquecer o trabalho, através da partilha direta de testemunhos, desenhos e reflexões. Uma das conversas com o Arquiteto é transcrita na íntegra no presente trabalho, oferecendo um contributo direto para a compreensão da obra e do seu autor. O desenvolvimento do estudo, aliado à investigação sobre conservação e restauro da arquitetura moderna, permitiu a elaboração da metodologia de projeto de restauro para a Casa de Azurém, com base no diagnóstico do seu estado atual, nas alterações ocorridas ao longo do tempo e na sua relação com a envolvente. A proposta procura assegurar a preservação da identidade arquitetónica da obra e a sua adaptação aos modos de habitar contemporâneos.

Abstract (EN): This Dissertation develops from the study of Casa de Azurém, designed by the Architect Noé Diniz between 1967 and 1968 in Guimarães, with the aim of defining a restoration project methodology for it. The research begins with a detailed analysis of the house, from its commission to its current state, situating it within the historical, architectural and cultural context of the second half of the 20th century. The House is observed as a manifestation of portuguese modern domestic architecture, revealing a balance between constructive rationality, sensitivity to place and functional adequacy. The study, listing and analysis of Noé Diniz’s work soon proved as necessary and inevitable. Although a broader analysis of the architect’s work was preferred, the study was limited to his early professional years, corresponding to the period in which Casa de Azurém was designed and built. Abstract The close and regular contact with the Architect Noé Diniz throughout the research process enriched the work through the direct sharing of testimonies, drawings and reflections. One of the conversations held with the Architect is transcribed in full in this dissertation, offering a direct contribution to the understanding of both the work and its author. The development of the study, in parallel with the research on the conservation and restoration of modern architecture, led to the formulation of a restoration project methodology for Casa de Azurém. This methodology is grounded in the diagnosis of its current condition, the changes it has undergone over time, and its relationship with the surrounding context. The proposed intervention seeks to preserve the architectural identity of the house while adapting it to the contemporary ways of living.
