Abstract (EN):
A review on free vibrations of plates and shallow shells is carried out and the concept of non-linear mode of vibration discussed. Using the p-version of the finite element method, equations of motion for free, geometrically non-linear vibrations of plates and shells are obtained. These equations are transferred into the frequency domain by the harmonic balance method, using a truncated Fourier series with the constant term and three harmonics. Non-linear modes of vibration of plates and shells are computed. The variation of the non-linear mode shapes with the vibration amplitude and of the non-linear natural frequencies is shown in two examples. Internal resonances are found.
