Resumo (PT): A utopia cria-se no espaço, materializando-se num lugar úbere para a expressão de estéticas, inventividades artísticas e sociais. Desta imbricação espacial da utopia surge uma ideia [in]tangível de jardim, enquanto lugar ordenador sublime da natureza selvagem, pujante transformador no sentido de futuros imaginários alternativos. Por isso importa explorar espaços da utopia, uma vez resistentes e transformativos, como o caso que aqui analisamos: o festival de artes Jardins Efémeros, realizado na cidade portuguesa de Viseu. A partir do estudo intensivo do caso (por meio de entrevistas, análise documental e observação), procura-se demonstrar como o ideário utópico associado a uma noção artística de jardim potencializa transformações sociais.

Abstract (EN): Utopia is created in space, materializing itself in a place where aesthetics, artistic and social inventiveness can be expressed. From this spatial imbrication of utopia emerges an [in]tangible idea of garden, as a sublime ordering place of wild nature, a powerful transformer towards alternative imaginary futures. Therefore, it is important to explore utopian spaces, once resistant and transformative, such as the case we analyze here: the art festival Jardins Efémeros [Ephemeral Gardens], held in the Portuguese city of Viseu. From the intensive study of the case (through interviews, document analysis and observation), we aim to demonstrate how the utopian ideology associated with an artistic notion of garden potentiates social transformations.
