Abstract (EN):
Measurement is fundamental in science, technology, industry, manufacturing and quality control, among many other fields. But a measurement result is only complete when it also brings information about its associated uncertainty. This paper uses the measurement of the Young modulus of a material based on two distinct methods and describes the uncertainty evaluation for the results from each of them. One method is based on a procedure followed by testing laboratories, using standard methodology and broad range test equipment. The second method is based on a traditional methodology used in R&D laboratories and dedicated equipment. The main goal of this work is to explore this example for evaluating the uncertainty associated with the measurement and so to contribute for discussing and illustrating this important topic in the experimental domain.
