Resumo (PT): Publicação, integrada na colecção ArtinSite: Desvios/Detours, que surge na sequência da segunda edição de Desvios / Detours II - 2° Encontro Internacional sobre a Importância do Local no Pensamento e na Arte Contemporâneos, que teve como sub-título “Fluidez e sentido do lugar no pensamento e na arte contemporâneos”. Das últimas palavras que pontuaram as discussões na primeira edição, fluidez foi inquestionavelmente uma das que mais ressonância teve. Ficaram dessas discussões vários reconhecimentos: primeiro, de que não será possível pensar os lugares sem o entendimento do seu próprio carácter evolutivo. Em segundo lugar, de novo se confirmou que o essencialismo das abordagens culturais é perigoso e colonizante. E finalmente, que aquilo que somos hoje e, por isso, o lugar que habitamos, é algo que fazemos a cada momento, imbuído embora de tudo quanto ocupa o espaço do corpo e da memória, mas ciente de que a própria consciência da história existe sempre sob a marca do presente. Destes reconhecimentos nasceram as ideias de fluidez e de sentido, as quais estão associadas à reformulação de muitas das estruturas que organizam a nossa percepção e vivência do espaço (social) e dos mecanismos que caracterizam as relações que nele se operam. Ambas as ideias apontaram possibilidades e aberturas a que nos interessou naquela edição dar expressão, mas que sabemos continua a ser premente questionar, atentando à produção de entendimentos saudavelmente divergentes sobre estas matérias.

Abstract (EN): The publication, part of the series ArtinSite: Desvios/Detours, appears in the follow up of the second edition of Desvios / Detours II - 2° International Forum on the Importance of the Local in Contemporary Art and Thought, entitled “Fluidity and sense of place in contemporary art and thought”. Amongst the final words that appeared in the first edition’s discussion, fluidity was unquestionably one of the most resonant. From those discussions we were left with a number of recognitions: first, that it will not be possible to think about places without the understanding of their own evolving character. Secondly, we confirmed once again that the essencialism of cultural approaches is dangerous and colonising. And finally, that what we are today, the place we inhabit, we make at each and every moment; embedded however of all that occupies the space of body and memory, but conscious nevertheless that the very awareness of history always exists under the imprint of the present. From these recognitions the ideas of fluidity and sense were born. They are associated with the reshaping of many organising structures of our perception and lived experience of (social) space and the mechanisms that characterise the relations that take place in that space. Both ideas pointed to possibilities and opennings that we were interested in investigating in that edition, but we know that it remains momentous to question and discuss them, paying particular attention to the fruitful production of multifarious interpretations on these matters.
