Abstract (EN):
The paper presents an approximate method for calculating the stress intensity factor, which is a fundamental parameter in linear elastic fracture mechanics. The compounding method uses solutions for simple configurations in order to obtain the stress intensity factor for more complex geometries. A description of this method is presented, together with two practical applications: the eccentrically cracked strip and the infinite plate with a row of collinear cracks. Comparison with other results is made, in order to show the accuracy of this method.
