Resumo (PT): A presente dissertação trata vários assuntos ligados à arquitectura e à reconversão de edifícios, pretendendo culminar no tema que motivou as abordagens que se vão desenrolando. A reconversão de uma fábrica abandonada, para um novo programa, ligado a outras práticas, associadas ao termalismo de água salgada tornou pertinente um olhar sobre a Memória, a Estrutura, a relação com a envolvente e a reabilitação de edifícios. Foram considerados casos de estudo, uns com ligação programática, outros por se tratarem de reconversões em obras de interesse público, e por fim, de projectos que possuam um especial cuidado por parte do arquitecto na atribuição de um carácter introspectivo na experiência espacial, através de noções de escala, de relações entre espaços interiores e exteriores, escolhas de materiais e articulação entre o existente e o construído aquando da nova intervenção. Com isto, pretendeu-se montar uma narrativa que espelhasse um raciocínio projectual, num processo de concepção, não só de espaços, mas de noções que sustentam as opções de projecto, de programa e da escolha do edifício em causa.

Abstract (EN): This work travels through several subjects concerning architecture and building reconversion, aiming to lead up to the topic that encouraged the approaches unfolded. Bringing a new sea water hydrotherapy program to an abandoned industrial building, brings up to a stout view over the Memory, the Structure, the relationship with the surroundings and building reconversion. Case studies with similar programmatic content and other regarding works of public interest were considered, together with projects where the architect took a careful approach, establishing an introspective character on the spatial experience through the notion of scale, the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces, the materials selection and the articulation of the new built with the previous existence. The aim was to build a narrative that reflected the planning thought as a process of conception, not only of spaces, but of insights that support the project options, the program and the choice of the reconverted building.
