Vera Viana is a researcher in the Faculty of Architecture, University of Porto. She directs her teaching practices and research purposes toward enhancing geometry education with advanced digital tools and 3D printing technology.
Viana's research focuses on the transformative potential of digital culture in mathematics education and the intersections of computer science with geometry, polyhedral theory, structural morphology, the relationships between architecture and mathematics, and the history of science. Viana authored a Ph.D. Thesis, book chapters, papers, lectures, courses, and several online resources.
Director of Aproged (the Portuguese Geometry and Drawing Teachers? Association) since 2009.
Co-Chair and Organizing Committee member of international events aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge in multidisciplinary frameworks.
Editor of peer-reviewed publications for scientific events published by Springer Nature (2020, 2022), the International Society for the Interdisciplinary Study of Symmetry (2022), and Aproged (2013-2021).
Editorial Board member of the Nexus Network Journal.
Descriptive Geometry Teacher (1993-2011) and author of schoolbooks (2013, 2014).
