Alexandra Castro is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Porto (FAUP), where she has been teaching the course "Geometry and Architecture" since 2014.
She holds a degree in Architecture (FAUP, 2002) and a master’s degree in "Methodologies of Intervention in Architectural Heritage" (FAUP, 2009).
Recently, she completed her PhD (FAUP, 2023) with the dissertation titled "The Hidden Geometry of the Architecture of Herzog & de Meuron: Digital Tools and Design Practice." Her research explored the relationship between geometry and architecture in the work of these Swiss architects, focusing specifically on the impact of digital tools on their design practice.
In 2013, Alexandra Castro joined the Centre for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism (CEAU) at FAUP, where she has been conducting research on geometry, digital modelling, architectural representation, and design practice.
In 2010, she co-founded the architecture office Castro Natali, based in Porto, together with architect Nicola Natali.
