Luciana Rocha (Santa Maria da Feira, 1983) is an architect (FAUP, 2007) and Assistant Researcher at the Center for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism (CEAU/FAUP). She was awarded a PhD in Architecture in 2016 (FAUP) with the thesis "Intervention in the Modern: Recognition, Characterisation and Safeguard of Multifamily Housing Buildings". This research was funded by FCT [SFRH/BD/71743/2010] and developed within the "European Doctoral Programme". Within this scope, she attended the Techniques et Sauvegarde de l'Architecture Moderne (TSAM) laboratory at EPFL (Lausanne). Her main interests lie in the architectural heritage of the 20th century, mainly multifamily housing and intervention strategies regarding preservation measures, energy efficiency, comfort, and well-being. At CEAU, she is a member of the research groups 'Architecture, City and Territory Heritage' (PACT) and 'Housing architectural design and forms of dwellings' (AdC). From 2016 to 2019, she was a research fellow on the FCT-funded project "Mapping Public Housing: A Critical Review of the State-subsidised Residential Architecture in Portugal (1910-1974)" (MdH), hosted by FAUP [P2020-PTDC/CPC-HAT/1688/2014]. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of the research project "WellBEH | Well-Balanced Energy Housing: Reasoning Method towards Interventions Crossing Heritage, Efficiency and Comfort" (https://doi.org/10.54499/2023.11189.PEX, FCT). Rocha has taught 'Building Construction 2' (Master Degree in Architecture) at FAUP.
