Tiago Lopes Dias (Oporto, 1978) holds a Bachelor degree from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Porto (FAUP, 2004) and a PhD in Theory and History of Architecture from the Catalonia Polytechnic University (UPC, 2017).
His research focuses on the relations between theory, criticism, history and design in the Western context of the 20
th century, and particularly in the Iberian context. Within this vast field of interest is his PhD thesis, "Teoria e desenho da arquitectura em Portugal, 1956-1974: Nuno Portas e Pedro Vieira de Almeida", funded by a grant from the portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Currently, he is post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism (CEAU-FAUP), where he develops the project "Housing in the Iberian Peninsula: architecture, theory and criticism in the 1960s and 1970s", selected and funded by FCT through the Scientific Employment Stimulus Programme.
His academic career includes experiences as Assistent Profesor at the Vallès School of Architecture (ETSAV-UPC, 2016-21), Assistant Professor and Monitor at FAUP (2019-20/2008-09, 2002-04) and Guest Critic in study abroad programs as CIEE and Calgary University, both in Barcelona. He has been a member of CEAU-FAUP since 2012.
His work has been published in scientific journals, books and international conferences (Portugal, Spain, Brazil) and presented in seminars and open courses at different universities (UP, UPC, ESAP).
