José Alberto Abreu Lage (Porto, 1969) is Architect, graduated in 1997 by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto.With master's degree (pre-Bologna) in Planning and Urban Environment Project by the Faculties of Architecture and Engineering of the University of Porto, in 2004 whith the dessertation: "Heritage and territorial planning - A proposal for the cultural construction of the landscape”, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Álvaro Domingues.
He holds a doctorate from FAUP, with the dissertation: REHABILITATION OF BAIRROS AND ARCHITECTURE. Process strategies; Project practices. (SAAL / NORTH: 1974-1976 / 1997, 2012). Conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Arq. Manuel Augusto Soares Mendes.
He has practiced as an architect since 1997, either in his own office or in co-authoring. Since 2004, he has been a lecturer at the Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture at FAUP. Currently Assistant Professor in the discipline ‘Project 2’.He is a researcher at the Center for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism at FAUP. He is part of the research group "Architecture: Theory, Project, History" ATPH / CEAU / FAUP, in line 3: territory, city and architecture."
