Objectives

Familiarize students with the profession and discipline of landscape architecture.

Clarification of the current vocabulary areas of this discipline as well as the guiding principles of interventions.

Knowledge of basic methodologies and the various stages and components of a landscape architecture design project.

Knowledge of the various work scales - from landscape development to small garden projects.

Knowledge of some of the major works and projects.

Basic knowledge of cartographic representation of the territory and landscape.

Learning outcomes and competences

Given the learning objectives to be achieved for this course of introductory nature to a discipline, teaching methodology adopted, is supported with structured intervention by the teacher with theoretical exposition, illustrated commented visual materials, will allow students to have access to a set of specific content, as well as specific references to enable them to develop deeper insight into the sectioned material.

The preparation of research papers, promotes their autonomy, allowing them to know the importance, structure and use of knowledge.

The completion of the work planned for evaluation involves the capacity to collect, select and interpret relevant information in the area of this Curricular Unit connected to the future profession of architect.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The theoretical presentations of the teacher promote the acquisition of updated information on the studied subjects.

The complement bibliography presentation associated with each theme will guide the students, encouraging them to practice research, reflection and critical about the topics covered.

The study of real situations of intervention leads to knowledge of good practice and the recognition of the importance of theory to intervene in practice.

The group work permits to develop and apply the acquired knowledge and extend the personal performance.

The forms of assessment are appropriate to the objectives of the course and the methodology adopted.


">The development of topics will be carried out articulating intervention moments structured by the teacher with theoretical presentation illustrated by visual materials commented, and moments of sharing and collective discussion around the issues under study.

">The aim is to engage students in research work and reflection on the matter presented.

">Continuous Evaluation without Final Exam.

">The evaluation is based on two elements:
">a- Preparation of a final test on the subjects taught (70%);

">b- Presentation of an group work on one of the themes of the class (30%).


">The date of submission of assignments will be timely informed and agreed with the students.

">To obtain frequency student must
attend at ">least at 75% of classes.

Eligibility for exams

Students must obtain a minimum final grade of 9.5, its mandatory to obtain a minimum score of 8 points in the test and practical work to pass the course.

Failure to delivery date of the exercises involves a penalty of 0.5 values for each day of delay.

There is no possibility of improving the grade given in the exercise and test.

The date for submission of assignments will be timely informed and agreed with the students.
