Objectives

This curricular unit (CU) aims to promote the deepening and consolidation of previously acquired knowledge about the main psychological, social and contextual issues determining the participation in sport and physical activity and dropout of people of all ages, as well to promote and to develop skills to intervene in this area.


Under the teaching of this course, students must:


  1. demonstrate high knowledge of the most important

  2. literature in this area;

  3. improve and consolidate skills related to interventions to achieve predefined objectives and sustain the gains, and enhance and apply skills in goal setting, behavior change  programs and maintenance of gains previously achieved.


Learning outcomes and competences

The syllabus of this course is consistent with the respective goals, because it was defined to allow students to deepen and consolidate a body of knowledge acquired in previous cycles of study more related to key issues relating to the participation and dropout of sport and physical activity by people of all ages. Accordingly, within the classroom, the fundamental concepts of this area of knowledge are revisited; as well its application in daily field situations is examined and emphasized
