Objectives

Preparation, implementation and treatment of data acquired at the Biomechanics Laboratory.
To know the various instruments of the Biomechanics Laboratory and the respective merits and limitations. To understand the complementarity between the various instruments.
Do the data processing and prepare it for in-depth analysis in other programs, in particular the spreadsheet (for example Microsoft Excel).

Learning outcomes and competences

To idealize and implement acquisitions in the Biomechanics Laboratory, using different instruments in synergy.
Do all the processing of the data obtained.
Transfer the results to sports practice.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Basic knowledge of using an operating system (Windows, OSX, Linux ...). Basic knowledge of using a spreadsheet (Microsoft Office: Excel; LibreOffice: Calc; SoftMaker: PlanMaker; ...), including writing and using formulas. Notions of Biomechanics, including relationships between position, speed and acceleration; Newton's second law; derivatives.

Program

- Brief presentation of LABIOMEP- University of Porto Biomechanics Laboratory
- Acquisition of sporting gestures, using force platforms, marker tracking program, etc. Cares to be taken, preparation of the subject, synchronization of instruments
- Identification of markers in QTM and export of data to a spreadsheet
- Data processing in the spreadsheet, including: data filtering by moving average; numerical differentiation; nemerical primitivation.
