Objectives
It intends that students acquire knowledge about the historical landmarks of sport for people with disabilities and the Paralympicmovement, at national and international level. At the end of this course, students should be able to identify the structure andhierarchy of organizations that protect adapted sport, at national and international level, taking a critical stand on the evolution ofAdapted Sport. In addition, students will be able to understand the specifics of the sports classification system and its impact onthe Paralympic athlete and the organization of the sports structure.
Additionally, students will have specialized knowledge about sport for people with disabilities, in multiple perspectives,highlighting those that emphasize sport as a privileged space for recreation and leisure, as a form of therapy or as an integralelement of the process educational.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students who pass this course must demonstrate the following skills: i) be able to reflect and understand the aspects related to the historical contextualization of adapted sport, namely the identification of the key points of its emergence and development at national and international levels. ii) to be able to identify and relate the different periods of evolution of adapted sport, and its different forms of manifestation and public dissemination, namely with regard to the maximum exponent of its expression, that is, the Paralympic Games iii) develop a sports culture with special emphasis on Paralympic culture through knowledge of the symbols, images and athletes that characterize and distinguish the Paralympic Movement at national and international level.Working method

Teaching methods and learning activities
The programmatic contents are transmitted in an expository way, being used as support several audiovisual media (i.e., videos,reports, photographs) in order to improve this process. In this context, it is also sought to clarify some of the problems raised intheoretical teaching through small debates and by reading and analyzing the selection of some scientific articles related to thesubject in question. The final evaluation of this curricular unit will be based on the final classification obtained through a finalwritten exam where questions regarding the content covered during the theoretical sessions will be asked.

Calculation formula of final grade
Written work related with the context of one of the themes presented during the classes.
The approval of the currcular unit will be obtained with a grade of 9,5 or higher. To be considered the final written work classification is required to attend at least 75% of the total calsses taught.
