Objectives

The Curricular Unit of Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis aims to develop research skills in physiotherapy PhD students, through mastery of the methods of planning and organization of research, with emphasis on the different methodologies.
The student should master the different research methods in order to choose the most appropriate for the purpose of study and be able to properly disclose the results of research. Develop skills in the creation, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained during the collection of data in an investigation.

Learning outcomes and competences

-The student creates databases considering the individual characteristics of each variable.

-The student is able to apply normality tests.

-The student differentiates, and applies appropriately, parametric and non-parametric tests.

-The student is able to differentiate and apply the assumptions necessary for the application of the different statistical tests, considering the sample size, the available groups and the characteristics of the variables.

-The student applies, in an adjusted manner, the procedures of linear regression and logistics, considering the fundamentals of multivariate data analysis.

-The student is able to interpret the results obtained through the SPSS, adjusted to the different situations of analysis.

Eligibility for exams

The assessment, in the 1st season, will consist in the realization of a theoretical assessment on practice the form of written test using SPSS for exploitation of a database, being asked to review this, and answer the questions of the exam. The assessments corresponding to the resource and special seasons (only to finish the course) shall consist in the realization of a written test, on dates to be agreed with the Commission for coordination of PhD Program in Physiotherapy and the respective teacher.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final score in the curricvular unit will be  obtained by PhD students in the final exam, corresponding  100% of the final score obtainde,  provided that students comply with the conditions for obtaining Frequency of the curricular unit

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In these situations will apply the General rules for evaluation of the Faculty of Sport.

Classification improvement
